Major update!!!!
On October 1st, I purchased the remaining two 1999 Topps Power Brokers I need to finish off the set!

Here's the remaining sets I'm shooting for in order of preference.

1999 Topps had lots of really cool inserts. This is the one I couldn't complete, despite all of the Series 1 packs I bought!

The non-chrome version was plain and grey. But chromed? They added color! And turned it into a cool chase set.

Maybe it's the chili reference. Maybe it's that the cards make you focus more on the background than the player itself?

Ok, so not technically an "insert," but a great chase card. A lot of work went into trying to complete this set: watching eBay auctions count down so I didn't get sniped for #70, traveling to every Target in Cincinnati on Tuesdays to get the latest shipment, buying complete Series 1 sets just for one card. And then, of course, not only did Bonds have to break the single-season mark but the whole steroid thing has deflated the allure (and value) of the set. Still, it was almost as fun as trying to complete the 1982 Topps set.
