Major update!!!!
On October 1st, I purchased the remaining two 1999 Topps Power Brokers I need to finish off the set!
Here's the remaining sets I'm shooting for in order of preference.
| 1999 Topps Power Browers
Status: COMPLETE 1999 Topps had lots of really cool inserts. This is the one I couldn't complete, despite all of the Series 1 packs I bought! Originally 75.0% Complete ( 15 / 20 cards)
|
| 1999 Topps Chrome All-Etch Team
The non-chrome version was plain and grey. But chromed? They added color! And turned it into a cool chase set. 10/30 - Bought Kevin Brown at Northwoods Mall card show

| 1998 Leaf State Representatives
A really neat set with the outline of each state.
Originally 53.3% Complete ( 16 / 30 cards) Current 73.3% Complete ( 22 / 30 cards) |
| 1996 Ultra Rising Stars
A pretty cool little 10-card set. Amazing what you find when chasing the gold medallions! 50.0% Complete ( 5 / 10 cards) |
| 2000 Topps Chrome Power Players
Same story as the all-etch team.
Current 40.0% Complete ( 8 / 20 cards) |
| 2003 Ultra Moonshots
I got the Ivan Rodriguez one and liked it a lot. I've only got a couple of them.
Current 40.0% Complete ( 8 / 20 cards) |
| 2000 Skybox Skylines
Maybe it's the chili reference. Maybe it's that the cards make you focus more on the background than the player itself? 30.0% Complete ( 3 / 10 cards) |
| 1999 Topps Card 220
Ok, so not technically an "insert," but a great chase card. A lot of work went into trying to complete this set: watching eBay auctions count down so I didn't get sniped for #70, traveling to every Target in Cincinnati on Tuesdays to get the latest shipment, buying complete Series 1 sets just for one card. And then, of course, not only did Bonds have to break the single-season mark but the whole steroid thing has deflated the allure (and value) of the set. Still, it was almost as fun as trying to complete the 1982 Topps set. 4/26 - Bought #55 from eBay Originally 51.4% Complete ( 36 / 70 cards)
